Gosh… is it just me or did this January feel abnormally long? However, that is not what we are here to focus on today. This is a small, happy corner of the internet where I like to talk about whatever I want (and hopefully get you inspired to chill out and read along).
The other day I was sat at a cafe, with my notebook wide open in front of me, thinking hmm, it’s been a while since I’ve written a listicle… The urge to summarize my month into concise bullet points grew stronger, bringing us to right now!
Here are some of my favorite things I did/saw/discovered on the first month of 2026:

Toby Fox’s game Deltarune helped me rediscover the fun of video games
Rarely will you find me talking about video games in my life, but I have a soft spot for RPGs and “cozy games”. I am your quintessential casual gamer girl, with a Nintendo obsession that started with the DS when I was 10 years old and evolved into the Switch in my 20s.
Deltarune is an 8-bit RPG where you play as a depressed kid that travels to the Dark World (that both is and isn’t just your imagination) to save the world from ending. It is filled with hilarious NPCs, silly side quests, and so much more. The game is divided into chapters and I had played the first two when they were released in 2023 and hadn’t touched the game since. I’m so happy I came back to it now that there are more chapters out, I’ve been loving it!

Fashion Week happened and Dior looks good again
Everybody say a big thank you to Dior’s new creative director Jonathan Anderson for reviving the feminine, finely tailored Dior after the disaster that was Maria Grazia Chiuri’s graffiti collection. Florals, structural garments, ethereal pastels and Lady Dior variations that feel young.
Anderson has credited John Galliano’s prior work at the fashion house as his inspiration for the collection and the references are clearly there. Truly a breathtaking runway that I can only imagine is just the amuse bouche for Dior’s new, awe-inspiring journey.

I didn’t write unrealistic New Year’s Resolutions”
Instead, I followed YouTube personality Kalel’s advice and made a little ‘life plan’ for myself. For the people who lived the glory days of YouTube, you may remember her as Smosh founder Anthony Padilla’s ex-fiancée who he had a vlog channel with for a while. Or, if you’re anything like me, you remember her as “the cool girl with the blue hair that constantly reinvented herself”.
After a very long hiatus she returned to posting this year, with a fresh rebrand and a new healthier attitude towards creating content. I’ve really enjoyed watching her new vlogs and seeing a more raw, honest Kalel that isn’t afraid to say she’s struggling. It feels oddly comforting to watch the “cool girl” I wanted to be when I was younger and see myself in her.

I cooked — a lot!
No seriously, it is an unprecedented plot twist! Soups, sandwiches, breakfast foods, pasta dishes, there was even a recent experimentation with baking my own peanut butter chocolate bars. Granted, I still don’t love cooking. I won’t ever love it. It’s just become a part of the daily routine that I’ve gotten used to and don’t entirely despise or avoid anymore.
This January marks the healthiest month of my life food-wise. Unfortunately, my face is suffering the worst acne breakout of my life but it is unrelated to internal issues.

Song of the month: “End of the Night” by Baby Jane
Club classics by DJs like Avicii, Basshunter and Alan Walker are resurfacing due to the early 2010s nostalgia trend. Of course that comes as no surprise — it seems the most natural progression after Charli XCX’s album Brat. The pure joy felt from a good club beat hits different; I may not be a nightclub girl, but I am a dancer.
Baby Jane is very Basshunter-coded with a slightly somber undertone. Very good for those days where you’re kind of struggling, but mostly need to dance the sadness out of your system. If you also loved Nightcore covers as a kid, you will be thrilled to know she also does sped up versions of her songs.
That’s all from me today! It’s been an eventful month, productive in many ways, and the Christmas tree is waiting for me to put it back into its beat-up cardboard box. Here’s to a good, if not better, February for all of us!
